A space for Restoration, Meditation, and Sanctuary … at LZ-Grace.
Although we are still raising funds to completely pay for the extraordinary works (https://www.gofundme.com/LZ-GraceMeditation), Ashton Landscaping (http://www.ashtonlandscaping.com) went ahead and completed the Meditation Garden at LZ-Grace.
Spring will bring it into full bloom!
We are abundantly grateful for the generous donations thus far, which made this possible and the beautiful benches made by Mitchell Payne and Troop 996 (BSA) for his Eagle Scout project. and look forward to watching many sunrises and sunsets for generations to come.
Special thanks to the exceptional media department at Lancaster Farms (http://www.lancasterfarms.com/lf_site_redesign/index.php).
They graciously and generously donated thousands of dollars of materials for the Warrior Fire Pit and came back later to shoot this short documentary about LZ-Grace.
Last year, on June 20, 2014, we closed on this 38 acres of magic and with the help of family, friends, volunteers, angels and LOVE… the farm shines with peace and holds the promise of healing for all those who touch this land. Grace indeed.
It has been a full year of Miracles.
My heartfelt thanks to all you volunteered, donated funds, donated expertise and materials, joined me at the table and loved us through this first year. There are no words large enough to thank you… so I’m passing it forward to the SOF and those they love, who will come here to rest, renew, reconnect and heal.

In Loving Memory of Those Who Are Forever Present in Our Lives
It is an incredible honor to be included in this “Behind the Mask” documentary.
I am so proud to know Josh Xenakis, Kirk Kellerhals and the incredible men and women of the Virginia Beach Fire Department who have spent countless hours here at LZ-Grace Warrior Retreat Foundation to help Make Grace Happen for their Brothers in combat.

On March 10, 2015, Strength & Honor Ironclad MC
sponsored a fundraiser for LZ-Grace at Tidewater Motorcycles in Suffolk, Virginia.
Each Tuesday, Tidewater Motorcycles hosts a Hot Dog Social, provides the food and entertainment and welcomes all.
Strength & Honor Motorcycle Club (SHMC) was founded on 12/04/05 as a law enforcement motorcycle club (LEMC). In addition to law enforcement officers, SHMC members include those who honorably serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the United States, those who save lives and protect property, and all others who defend life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as embodied in the Constitution of the United States of America.
These men and their awesome wives (with baked-goods galore!) worked all day and showed up to cook, serve, entertain and raise funds for LZ-Grace.
Honored and grateful to know these beautiful people.
Beautiful bikes too… and beautiful grace.
Saturday, February 28, 2015 was once again an incredible day of Volunteers doing hard and dirty work at LZ-Grace after the snow/ice storm. We survived thick ice, broken pipes, damaged power lines and broken tree limbs. Grace in all ways!
All we offer these hardworking, strong individuals is a hot meal prepared by my sister and talented cook, Diane Van Campen, and Gatorade or water to keep them hydrated. They do this from the heart.
Huge thanks to: Josh Xenakis, Captain at Virginia Beach Fire Department, for coordinating these days and for always going above and beyond,Virginia Beach Fire Department, Firefighters, Master Firefighters, Members of the Ironclad Strength & Honor Motorcycle Club, who have helped with so much and continue to do so, Pace Custom Interior & Exterior Creations, for repairing the leaking barn roof (on his off day from being a full-time Firefighter), the Men’s Ministry at ASBC, all the children who worked right along side their Dad’s and Matt Miller, SEAL Cdr. (Ret) for being an awesome logistics coordinator and friend.
Empower me to be a bold participant, rather than a timid saint in waiting; to exercise authority of honesty, rather than to defer to power or deceive to get it; to influence someone for justice, rather than impress anyone for gain; and by grace, to find treasures of joy, of friendship, of peace hidden in the fields you give me daily to plow. ~Loder
Dear Friends of LZ-Grace:
Last week, in the midst of broken water pipes and snow/ ice storms, I was made aware of a post to the LZ-Grace Warrior Retreat Facebook Review Wall:
The allegations are false. I do not know who the individual is and the FB account appears to be brand new. This review coincides with a dust up in the last few weeks with a volunteer and his girlfriend. With the help of local law enforcement and the Magistrate; the situation was handled swiftly, safely and without further incident.
As much as I do not want to believe someone would intentionally thwart our efforts to bring healing to our Warriors and their families, or purposely cause harm to LZ-Grace or me and my family, we live in a litigious society and non-profits are increasingly vulnerable. At present, we are an all-volunteer force, a Corporation under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and a registered 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.
The integrity of LZ-Grace is of utmost importance to me. Equally important is the integrity, health, welfare and safety of our volunteers, and anyone who visits LZ-Grace. To that end, it is necessary that each volunteer read, agree to and sign certain acknowledgements. For public review, I have placed a copy of our Confidentiality / Integrity Policy and our Waiver of Liability, Release, and Acknowledgement of Risks on our website at www.lz-grace.com.
Most of you know we are not yet open and operating as a Special Operations Forces Retreat or as a horse boarding facility. We are in the process of preparing all facilities to be functional and adequate.
We are also waiting on the applicable permits to be issued and significant funding. Then and only then can we legally be open to house Special Operations Forces and their families. We hope to be of full-service by late summer or early fall of 2015. In the meantime, we have had multiple veterans, as well as civilian service members and their family and friends, assisting in our preparation and through their own works and words, experiencing peace and healing themselves.
It is through these generous and extremely skilled volunteers, to include family members and friends, that this once run-down 38 acre property is coming alive.
LZ-Grace is sacred ground in all ways and it will remain sacred, peace inspiring and always full with the essence of healing.
I am humbled and deeply honored by the support and kindness of all who have a heart for this mission.
With Gratitude and Grace, Lynnette Bukowski, Founder/CEO
